Organization Design & Systems Efficiency
What is Organization Design Anyways?

Organizational design is often discussed but still widely misunderstood. At its core, it’s about how the essential elements of an organization work together to support clear decision-making, effective execution, and sustainable performance. When these elements are aligned, work flows more smoothly and roles make sense; when they aren’t, organizations experience friction, inefficiency, and burnout — even with strong talent in place.

Our organizational design work is grounded in Jay Galbraith’s STAR Model, which views organizations as interconnected systems where strategy, structure, processes, people, and rewards must reinforce one another. Rather than treating these elements in isolation, we use this framework to diagnose where misalignment is creating strain and design practical, sustainable solutions.

We support organizations at various stages of growth, from building new structures to revisiting systems that have been reworked multiple times but still aren’t functioning as intended. Our approach is intentionally minimally invasive — focusing on the smallest changes that can create the greatest impact, reduce disruption, and increase the likelihood that changes will stick.
Learn More About Jay Galbriath's Work

Jay Galbraith was a leading organizational theorist whose work fundamentally shaped how organizations design and align strategy, structure, processes, people, and rewards. His STAR Model remains one of the most widely used frameworks for diagnosing organizational misalignment and designing systems that support effective execution.
Our Organizational Design Services

1
Organizational Design Learning Labs
Facilitated learning experiences that introduce core organizational design concepts using Jay Galbraith’s STAR Model. These sessions help leaders understand how strategy, structure, processes, people, and rewards interact, with dedicated time to apply the concepts to their own organizational systems.
2
Design Diagnostics & Targeted Consultations
Focused assessments and short-term engagements that support organizations through specific changes or transitions. This work includes diagnostic analysis to identify misalignments in structures, roles, or workflows, along with practical recommendations to support clarity and effectiveness during periods of growth, restructuring, or integration.
3
Design & Systems Partnerships
Longer-term partnerships that support organizations in designing, implementing, and refining systems over time. These engagements combine diagnosis, system design, and implementation support, with ongoing check-ins to evaluate effectiveness and build internal capacity so leaders can adapt organizational design as conditions change.
